An exceptional turnout for Gateshead Council's launch of the BIG opportunity saw developers from all over the UK gather to hear about the Council's vision at the BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art in Gateshead on November 21.
Launching with a short film featuring Sir Ian Wrigglesworth, chairman of UK Land Estates and Sunand Prasad, president of RIBA outlining their support for the ambitious project, the event ended on a high with the unveiling of a giant map showing the sites available for development.
Key speakers during the event included designer Wayne Hemingway; Gateshead Council's chief executive - Roger Kelly; Councillor Mick Henry - Gateshead Council leader and Derek Quinn, group director development and enterprise at Gateshead Council.
