This is one of the BIGGEST regeneration projects to be delivered in Gateshead.
It will create 2,400 new homes on 19 sites the borough. The next 15-20 years will see 70 hectares of greenfield and brownfield land transformed into thriving, vibrant neighbourhoods where people want to live.
The 19 sites are located all across Gateshead - from Chopwell in the west of the borough to Birtley in the south and many in its urban centre.
Gateshead Council launched the search for its joint venture partner in November 2008. We had lots of interest from the private sector and worked for two and half years to narrow down a longlist of potential partners.
We appointed Evolution Gateshead as our preferred partner in April 2011 and are now working closely with them to establish the partnership and start making our ambitious plans a reality.
